Born in Belgium in 1972, Halleux is a sculptor who builds his retro-futuristic figures from bronze, copper, leather and wood. Raw, tactile materials shaped by the stubborn intelligence of human hands. His androids, robots and animals are assembled with obsessive care, fragment by fragment, in a world where the future has always been a fantasy of the past.

In this new body of work, Halleux turns that fantasy on its head. If a machine can now think, dream and create — do the robots start to think like human beings? As ever, Halleux answers not with words but with objects: impeccably crafted, irreducibly human, and shot through with his signature wit.
